Insect extinction
So, a global review of scientific research suggests that all insect life on Earth could be extinct within the next 100 years, causing a total collapse of every ecosystem on the planet.

Not great news, is it?

Some awful new pesticides that destroy the grubs in the soil apparently. Dreadful - I love bumblebees.

We'll need many more of those insects in fifty years....

...as the staple diet of human beings.

I'll be long gone and have no kids who it will affect, so I couldn't give a shit.

Planet has been fucked for years and I'll be happy to get off of it.

Re: Insect extinction
Cheerful.

We in the UK have the advantage of an abundance of pondlife that voted Leave that those higher up the food chain could eat if necessary. It's not all bad news.

Re: Insect extinction
The planet and life in general are fine, and will be for a loooooong time. It's lifeforms like us that has cause for concern.

The planet won't even scratch its arse for all we do, and life in general has survived far worse than us on numerous occasions.
